Washington Federal Foundation Awards Grants to Habitat for Humanity of Tucson, Chicanos Por La Causa

(TUCSON, Ariz. – Feb. 23, 2017) – Washington Federal, a full-service national banking institution with and eight branches in Pima County, was proud to donate $1,500 to Habitat for Humanity Tucson and $1,000 to Chicanos Por La Causa in Tucson in February through its Washington Federal Foundation corporate giving program. The mission of the Washington Federal Foundation is to facilitate direct donations to community-based nonprofits that are serving the needs of low and moderate-income individuals.

“Washington Federal is pleased to once again support the great work that Habitat for Humanity Tucson is doing within our community,” said Kim Dees, senior vice president and southern Arizona division manager of Washington Federal. “We are also honored to support the amazing work that Chicanos Por La Causa does in increasing financial education awareness within our community. Supporting the efforts of organizations like these has always been the main goal of the Washington Federal Foundation.”

Habitat for Humanity Tucson has been serving the greater-Tucson area since 1980 with a mission to build safe, affordable and quality homes for people in need. Washington Federal’s grant was donated to support a community home build project that began Oct. 3, 2016 and will be completed late this summer.

Founded to combat the oppression facing the Latino community in South Central Phoenix, Chicanos Por La Causa has since expanded to promote stronger and healthier communities throughout the southwestern United States and is now one of the largest charities in Arizona.
