DANCING IN THE STREETS ARIZONA (DITSAZ) Presents the Ballet ''Sleeping Beauty''
DANCING IN THE STREETS ARIZONA (DITSAZ) Presents the Ballet "Sleeping Beauty"
Come see an adventure into a magical world of princesses, fairies, and bewitching spells as good triumphs over evil. DITSAZ celebrates our tenth anniversary season with this ballet classic, featuring live music by the Civic Orchestra of Tucson. DITSAZ students, community leaders, and guest artists will be performing this ballet classic. The curtain goes up … the audience gasps … and the spectacular beauty unfolds like a rose, drawing you into a world of romance, wonder and imperial grandeur. Gleaming with Baroque golds, glowing with vivid color, and spilling over with fairies, princes, woodland nymphs and story-book charm, this ballet casts a spell of delight all the way to true love’s kiss. Opulent splendor, fairytale charm: this reawakened classic will sweep you off your feet.
Set to Tchaikovsky’s celebrated score almost 130 years since it was first staged, Sleeping Beauty has become one of the world’s most popular ballets. Its origins are unknown, as it was verbally passed down through the millennia and not published until the 17th century. Tchaikovsky’s score is adored almost as much as his Nutcracker ballet music, and the challenging choreography is as demanding as it is beautiful. In fact, the Rose Adagio that the princess performs in Act I is considered one of the most difficult adagios in any ballet. Come see our first production of Sleeping Beauty with live music and by the Civic Orchestra of Tucson. Our students have been working hard rehearsing and are excited to show you their amazing ballet skills!
About Dancing in the Streets Arizona:
DITSAZ is a not-for-profit organization founded in August 2008. We use the excitement and discipline of ballet to guide children (of any abilities) and at-risk youth as they work to achieve life skills, and meet goals. We are the first dance company in Tucson to be fully inclusive, teaching ballet to children of all physical, intellectual, and emotional abilities, as well as size and shape. This speaks to something we strongly believe - all bodies are dance bodies. We promote an interest in the art of dance within the local community, and to that extent, we also give back to our local community, offering scholarships to more than half of the families that walk into our school. We are able to do this because of the generosity of donors. Our professionally equipped studio is located at 88 W. 38th Street, Suite 200 in South Tucson. To learn more about DITSAZ, visit the organization’s website at www.ditsaz.org or call us at (520) 867-8489 or (520) 298-7738 (please leave a message)
