Duties: We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Development Director who shares our passion to serve children and families. The Development Director is RMHC’s chief fundraising officer, responsible for creating and implementing a comprehensive annual fundraising program to support the strategic goals of the organization. She or he will report to the President/CEO, working closely with the President/CEO, the Board of Directors, volunteers and other members of the RMHC staff to increase philanthropic support for the House. Essential Functions: Establish an annual, comprehensive, measurable fundraising strategy. Develop Case Statements as needed to support fundraising priorities. Create and manage a Major Gifts campaign, including donor cultivation, solicitation, recognition and appropriate stewardship. In partnership with President/CEO, cultivate, maintain and expand relationships with major donors. Create and manage a Planned Giving campaign. Research grant opportunities and write grants to support RMHC programs. Research and develop relationship with foundations for funding support. Oversee and expand all third-party fundraising events. Manage United Way and all employee giving campaigns. Guide direct mail fundraising program. Participate in all fundraising events. Conduct ongoing analysis of fundraising strategies to improve financial return on existing initiatives, identify and implement new fundraising vehicles. Meet specific fundraising targets set by the President/CEO in concert with the Board Executive Committee.

Experience Required: Qualifications Bachelor of Science/Arts degree A minimum of seven years’ consistent work experience developing funds for a nonprofit organization Preferred: Certified Fund Raising Executive designation Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Experience in building and managing a complex, multi-disciplinary fundraising program. Extensive knowledge of principles and techniques of development/fundraising. Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and networking skills with groups, as well as with individuals at high levels. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with fundraising databases and customer relationship management programs. Demonstrated ability to be professional, diplomatic, persuasive, collegial, and effective in working with diverse groups and individuals. Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing, and by telephone with donors and prospective donors at all levels. Collaborative style, combined with the ability and desire to work in a team-based environment. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to represent RMHC well and to enthusiastically serve as an emissary for the organization. Must demonstrate the ability to be highly sensitive and supportive of the needs of RMHC guest families.
