Job Description
Founded in 1980, DIRECT Center for Independence is a private, nonprofit organization operated by and for people with diverse disabilities. DIRECT provides services to empower people with disabilities to live independently in their own homes and advocates for equal opportunity to participate fully in all aspects of life in our community. The Linkages program contributes to making more productive communities by increasing employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
Position Summary:   
(with or without reasonable accommodations)
  • Educate Pima County employers on the benefits of hiring individuals with disabilities, maintain those employer relationships, and connect them to Linkages’ partners
  • Meet annual program deliverables and maintain a positive relationship and trust with funder(s)
  • Train employers, providers, organizations, and job seekers to use the Linkages website
  • Engage with chambers, organizations, and local groups in Pima County to market Linkages and DIRECT
  • Organize monthly meetings that highlights a local employer for Pima County Employment Specialists.
  • Oversee Linkages’ participation in major events in Pima County
  • Communicate job leads and employment information to Employment Specialists
  • Serve as backup for the Rural Counties Administrator
  • Assist in providing accurate information and appropriate referrals that connect individuals with disabilities to the Center’s and community resources
  • Maintain accurate recordkeeping, data management, and reporting practices
  • Promote equal opportunity for people with disabilities to participate fully in all aspects of life in the community, including living independently in their own homes and community
  • Associate’s Degree or related experience
  • Clear understanding of, and commitment to, the Linkages program and DIRECT's mission and vision
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated success in taking initiative and consistently delivering results
  • Passion for disability rights and working knowledge of community resources
  • Proficiency with MS Office, data entry, and Internet
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout Pima County
  • Experience working with persons with disabilities
  • Subject to criminal background check prior to employment
  • Target driven with a proven track record in sales/marketing and meeting or exceeding goals
  • Personal experience with disability
  • Familiarity with mental/behavioral health disabilities
  • Bilingual English-Spanish
 (Relevant personal life experience/history is acceptable substitute for education and/or work experiences)
