23rd Ray Davies Lifetime Humanitarian Achievement Award Luncheon

23rd Ray Davies Lifetime Humanitarian Achievement Award Luncheon

The 23rd Ray Davies Lifetime Humanitarian Achievement Award Luncheon will be held on October 28, 2022, at the Tucson Convention Center.   We anticipate 400 guests and business partners joining us this year to celebrate our honorees, Dr. Sallie Marston and SKECHERS.

Sallie Marston PhD, founded the UA Community and School Gardens Program. The program trains UA undergraduate and graduate students in the basics of sustainable agriculture. The UA students serve as interns at school gardens in underserved Tucson neighborhoods including the installation of gardens in over 70 TUSD schools. Thousands of TUSD students have experienced hands-on learning about plant science and how they themselves benefit from healthy produce.

When our previous shoe supplier closed in 2018, SKECHERS willingly stepped up to continue providing shoes to underserved TUSD students through Shoe Shopping events. SKECHERS has supplied over 800 underserved TUSD students with new shoes so these students can confidently and comfortably attend school.

Funds raised at this annual signature event enable EEF to continue its programs providing TUSD students with new shoes, eye exams and eyeglasses, clothing, and hygiene supplies to ensure students focus on learning. Additionally, EEF pays athletic fees for high school and middle school students who otherwise would not be able to participate in these extracurricular activities. Classroom support is provided through classroom grants to TUSD educators.

To continue this important work, I invite you to consider supporting EEF and this widely attended community event honoring Sallie Marston.
