Tucson Unified Students Receive Broadband Access and Technology
Through Cox, Raytheon and Educational Enrichment Foundation Partnership

Tucson, AZ, April 12, 2021–   More than 260 families in Tucson Unified will be connected to high-speed broadband internet and receive other technology support, thanks to a $97,000 grant from a partnership with Cox Communications, Raytheon, and the Educational Enrichment Foundation.

The District has received hundreds of requests for internet and technology support from families to help their students during this past year. Unfortunately, Tucson Unified did not have enough hotspots to fulfill all the requests, so with the support of the Educational Enrichment Foundation, Cox and Raytheon stepped up to provide grant funds to help families get a free Cox Connect2Complete account through July 2021.

“This is an important component in our ongoing effort to level the playing field for all students and eliminate the digital divide,” Lisa Lovallo, market vice president for Cox Southern Arizona, commented. “This is a commitment our company takes very seriously and we are proud to build creative local public/private partnerships to make difference by connecting our community so everyone can succeed.”

Families have been notified to sign up with Cox and are in the process of receiving internet services.
“We are very appreciative of the continued community support that Tucson Unified has received from our partners. It has made such a huge difference for many of our students who struggle to get a WiFi connection and reliable technology to complete their schoolwork, especially during this year of COVID,” said Blaine Young, Chief Technology Officer at Tucson Unified.
