About

Fifty years ago, the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona (NKF AZ) was founded with the purpose of fundraising for kidney patients who couldn’t afford the dialysis that would sustain their lives. Today, it provides emergency patient aid, kidney disease education and organ donation awareness to thousands of Arizonans across the state.

Over 600,000 Arizonans suffer from kidney disease, and more than 1,900 patients are currently on the wait list for a transplant. With community support, the National Kidney Foundation of Arizona is able to provide emergency assistance to kidney patients for a variety of special needs when other sources of help are exhausted. NKF AZ’s direct patient aid programs offer critical assistance in areas of: medications, rides to dialysis, rental eviction prevention, dental care and utility shut-off prevention. Over $9.3 million dollars have been awarded to Arizona kidney patients since the foundation began.

In addition to patient aid, NKF AZ offers public health education and free public health screenings, as well as state-wide promotion of organ donation.

The foundation welcomes Tucson’s community members and companies to participate in the support of Southern Arizona’s kidney patients through two Tucson events: our Southern Arizona Kidney Walk & NKF Golf Classic Tucson.
