Proposition 312 Passes, Strengthening Support for Tucson's Local Businesses
Tucson, AZ — The Tucson Metro Chamber is pleased to acknowledge the passage of Proposition 312, a key development for our region’s business community. This measure, which the Chamber supported, enables property owners to apply for property tax refunds if local governments fail to address public nuisances such as illegal camping, loitering, and vandalism, which can create difficult conditions for businesses.
Prop 312 is an important step toward holding local governments accountable and ensuring that Tucson remains a welcoming and viable place for businesses to grow and thrive. The measure provides businesses with a tool to recover the costs associated with these public nuisances, contributing to a safer, more attractive environment for commerce and the community.
“Voters around the state have spoken, they want our local governments to be more intentional about enforcing policies and ordinances on the books that keep neighborhoods safe and businesses successful,” said Michael Guymon, President and CEO of the Tucson Metro Chamber. “We will continue to advocate for policies that help local businesses succeed and contribute to a prosperous Tucson.”
Proposition 312 was one of several measures that the Chamber endorsed in alignment with its mission to create a strong, business-friendly environment. The Chamber thanks its members and supporters whose contributions to the PAC fund make it possible to advance initiatives like Prop 312, which strengthen Tucson's economy.
